INTRODUCTION
Artificial intelligence (AI) is a rapidly evolving technology that has the potential to revolutionize virtually every industry. AI is a branch of computer science that involves building smart machines capable of performing tasks that typically require human intelligence. While there are still concerns about the future of AI, including the potential for machines to become too intelligent and pose a threat to humanity, the current state of AI has already shown many benefits in different sectors.
WHAT IS ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
Artificial intelligence (AI) is a wide-ranging branch of computer science concerned with building smart machines capable of performing tasks that typically require human intelligence. While AI is an interdisciplinary science with multiple approaches, advancements in machine learning and deep learning, in particular, are creating a paradigm shift in virtually every sector of the tech industry. Humans train AI systems to perform specific tasks, making them simply computer machines. They learn from experience and use algorithms to perform human-like tasks. AI-generated content is incredibly useful and can have a positive impact on businesses. From self-driving cars to chess games, AI can perform a range of tasks from simple to complex problem solving. So, let go of the Hollywood stereotypes and embrace the true potential of AI technology. The CEO of SAS software, Jim G., said that AI has been an integral part of SAS software for years. Today, they help customers in every industry capitalize on advancements in AI, and they will continue embedding AI technologies like machine learning and deep learning in solutions across the SAS portfolio. With the development of self-driving cars and the proliferation of smart assistants like Siri and Alexa, AI is increasingly becoming part of everyday life, and an area companies across every industry are investing in.
HISTORY OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
The history of artificial intelligence (AI) dates back to the 1950s when the term was first coined. AI research in the early days focused on simple tasks and problem-solving skills. Researchers in 1956 used AI to work on language translation and symbolic reasoning. One of the first experiments in AI was the creation of SARC (Stochastic Neural Analog Reinforcement Calculator) by Marvin Minsky and Dean Edmonds in 1951. However, the real interest in AI began in the 1960s when the US Department of Defense took an interest in the field of AI research.
During this time, the US government began to invest heavily in AI research and development, particularly in the areas of natural language processing, pattern recognition, and machine learning. The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) completed street mapping projects in the 1970s, and produced intelligent personal assistants in 2003, long before Siri, Alexa or Cortana were household names. The early work paved the way for the automation and formal reasoning that we see in computers today, including decision support systems and smart search systems that can be designed to complement and augment human abilities.

Thanks to increased data volumes, advanced algorithms, and improvements in computing power and storage, AI has become more popular today. AI machines are now trained with pattern recognition and deep learning skills, and advancements are being made in natural language processing and computer vision. These advancements have allowed for a wide range of practical applications, from self-driving cars to virtual personal assistants. AI is also being used in healthcare, retail, and other sectors to complement and augment human abilities.
However, there are still fears that AI could become too smart and pose a threat to human existence. While these concerns are valid, the current evolution of AI technologies is providing specific benefits in every industry. AI continues to advance rapidly and is predicted to help humans solve tasks more efficiently in the future. Despite the challenges and concerns, the possibilities for AI are endless, and we are only scratching the surface of what this technology can do.
HOW DOES A.I WORK?
The best model to use here is ChatGPT that is made by OpenAI. Sins they are openly communication about their trendy model, they have offered many explanations and insights about ChatGPT as a model.
The two main steps involved in building ChatGPT work as follows:
Figure 2: How ChatGPT works?
The process of developing artificial intelligence models involves pre-training and fine-tuning. Pre-training involves feeding large datasets containing internet content to models and predicting what comes next in a sentence. The models can learn grammar, facts about the world, reasoning abilities, and even some biases present in the dataset.
After pre-training, models undergo fine-tuning where they are trained on a more narrow dataset generated by human reviewers who follow specific guidelines. Since it’s impossible to predict all the possible inputs that users may put into the system, guidelines are outlined to categorize and rate model outputs for a range of example inputs. The models then generalize from the feedback provided by the reviewers to respond to a wide array of specific inputs from users. The fine-tuning process ensures that the models are able to perform their intended tasks accurately and efficiently.
CONCLUSION
AI has a long and fascinating history, dating back to the 1950s when the term was first coined. The technology has evolved rapidly since then, with increased data volumes, advanced algorithms, and improvements in computing power and storage leading to more sophisticated AI models. From healthcare to retail and beyond, AI is being used in a wide range of applications to complement and augment human abilities. While there are still challenges and concerns around the technology, it’s clear that the possibilities for AI are endless, and we are only just scratching the surface of what this technology can do.
